Pretty Braids

Braids are showing up on the red carpet and every where else. Here are a few pictures to help you get some styling ideas. OH how I wish I had long hair... sighhhh

One of the great things about braids right now is that they don't have to be perfect to look pretty, if some of your layers don't quite fit into the braid that's ok!
They are great of spring and summer. Just pull your hair up and go out and enjoy the nice warm sun while it last!!

Fun Hair Accessories That Are In Right Now...

Hair Clips

Clips are perfect for short pixie hair styles and I love to use them when I am trying to grow my bangs out. (Which, I think we can all agree when I say growing out your bangs is one big FAT pain!)

Headbands

I Love the flowers and the jewels on these headband! Headbands are nice when I don't have a lot of time to get ready. You can just pop one on your head and go out the door looking more put together.

Bridal or Prom

I am already married, and too old to go to prom but if I were to have an event where I had to do my hair fancy I would pick one of these, I LOVE them all!

Feathers

Feathers are really in right now! They are on cute headbands, clips, and even extensions.

Hot Trends for the Spring

Color Melting Your hair is still in... although some of the magazines are calling it Ombre Color now. Either ways it's a pretty fun look! It's great because it has a very natural, grown out sun-lightened feel to it.

This is one of my favorite things to do with my color clients, it always looks so pretty!

Retro styles are in right now. This would be fun to try out if you have a special event to attend. You'll need a small to medium curling iron to achieve this look.

Pixies- LOVE THEM!! Which is why I am having a hard time growing my hair out.

One thing you'll want to keep in mind is this hair cut is NOT for everyone, and to make sure your pixie has soft, feminine touches so you don't end up looking like a little boy.

With that said I would highly recommend it if you can rock it!

Lip art

While I was paroozing (if that's a real word) the internet I came across this picture. Done by artist Paige Thompson. She is a painter based in Texas who started experimenting with Halloween makeup on her lips to create different animals. What started as an art project with a bumblebee has blossomed into a portfolio of various animals ranging from a fox, a jaguar, a black cat, and panda.
I thought it was something fun to share, so here you are.

You are what you eat...

We've all heard the saying you are what you eat... well in a sense it's true.
Your hair, skin and nails are directly affected by what you eat!

"Lather, rinse, repeat" may be standard advice, but shampoo and conditioner alone won't give you the healthy hair you crave. For the most luxurious locks possible here are a few tips on what you should be eating.

The best foods for healthy hair and skin include items from all four food groups, so finding something you like that will enhance your skin and hair should be easy and tasty. Here's a list of the best foods for healthy skin and hair.

Blueberries- They're rich is antioxidants that protect your skin and hair from damaging UV radiation.

Brazil nuts- They contain selenium, which your body uses to produce a protein that helps promote healthy hair and skin.

Spinach- It's packed with both vitamins A and C, which the body converts to sebum, a natural conditioner produced by hair follicles.

Kidney beans-They're full of protein, which promotes healthy hair growth.

Eggs- They're a great source of B-12, which is essential to healthy hair and skin.

Oysters- they contain the antioxidant zinc, which is crucial to health hair and skin.

Yogurt- Calcium is important for healthy hair as well as strong bones.

Cereal-Even the worst kids' cereals are fortified with iron, a mineral key to healthy skin and hair

Salmon- When it comes to foods that pack a beauty punch, it's hard to beat salmon. Loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, this high-quality protein source is also filled with vitamin B-12 and iron."Essential omega-3 fatty acids are needed to support scalp health," says Andrea Giancoli, MPH, RD, a dietitian in Los Angeles and a spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association. "A deficiency can result in a dry scalp and thus hair, giving it a dull look."
Vegetarian? Include one or two tablespoons of ground flaxseed in your daily diet for some plant-based omega-3 fats.

Carrots- are an excellent source of vitamin A, which promotes a healthy scalp along with good visioin. Since a healthy scalp is essential for a shiny, well-conditioned head of hair, you'd be wise to include carrots in your diet as snacks or toppings on your salad.

Water- You’ll look younger when your skin is properly hydrated. Water helps to replenish skin tissues, moisturizes skin and increase skin elasticity.
